ScottOpus Productions presents A CD

of the original Music of Kerry R. Scott

FIBONACCI CONCERTO.

This CD by Kerry R. Scott. is a composition based on the Fibonacci Series. The form of the work is a contemporary interpretation of the Concerto Grosso form with the Concertino comprising of Organ, Piano, Harpsichord, Harp and Celeste; The Ripieno, a full and expanded Orchestra.

The Cover of this CD introduces The Claudio Sculptures ~ see the sculpture section of this website. This particular use of the sculptures further introduces the "Photographic Fantasies" of the Composer. Five are featured on cover ~ "Jaded Claudio", "Extinct Claudio", "Ghost Claudio", "Claudio in a Basket", and "Circle Claudio".

For more information on the Photographic Fantasies of Kerry R. Scott see the Art section of this website.

TRACK 1. - THE FIBONACCI CONCERTO ~ Movement I ~ Entrance to Hade's Bedlam

This first movement has a slow and brooding atmosphere. Bedlam is usually portrayed as a noisy and squalid place - but here the composer represents both Hades and Bedlam as a state of mind rather than a physical place. The thematic material leads nowhere and is spasmodic in character with atiose rhythmic structures and harsh orchestral timbres.

TRACK 2. - THE FIBONACCI CONCERTO ~ Movement II ~ Scherzo for The Stations of the Cross

This movement is in stark contrast to the first. The first section of this movement rhythmically represents the Prayer of the Stations of the Cross in Morse Code. The Traditional Stations of the Cross are listed below, However, the second, fourth and sixth sections of this movement represent the third, seventh and ninth Station ~

Station 1. Jesus is condemned to death.
Station 2. Jesus receives the cross.
Station 3. Jesus falls the first time.
Station 4. Jesus meets His Mother.
Station 5. Simon of Cyrene carries the cross.
Station 6. Veronica wipes Jesus' face with her veil.
Station 7. Jesus falls the second time.
Station 8. Jesus meets the daughters of Jerusalem.
Station 9. Jesus falls the third time.
Station 10. Jesus is stripped of His garments.
Station 11. Crucifixion: Jesus is nailed to the cross.
Station 12. Jesus dies on the cross.
Station 13. Jesus' body is removed from the cross (Deposition or Lamentation).
Station 14. Jesus is laid in the tomb and covered in incense.

TRACK 3. - THE FIBONACCI CONCERTO ~ Movement III ~ A Bacchanal

The last movement started life as the First Movement and was completed before the other two were started or conceived. The subtitle ~ "A Bacchanal" is more metaphysical than real ~ that is the abandonment of reason and mores is more in the mind than a real revelry or decadent exhibition. The form of this movement (as originally conceived) is really that of a first movement form of a classical Concerto and became the last movement as an indication that Genesis and Revelation can be one and the same.
