RECORDING:-Available on The Witches of Macbeth CD.The Witches of Macbeth was written in the Fall of 2008. The work is a fantasy celebrating Halloween and is based on the first scene of Shakespeare’s tragedy Macbeth. This first scene includes Three witches and is thought to be co-written by Thomas Middleton(1580 – 1627), and was perhaps the inspiration for Middleton’s play “The Witch” written in 1609.
The Witches of Macbeth was conceived as a Ballet with the work represented here as an Overture or a Prelude for the first Act. The larger work – the Ballet – is still in the conceptual stage but will utilize the atmospheric, thematic and rhythmic feature found in this work.
Thematic and Rhythmic structures in this work can be broken down into groups of threes. Each structure separately represent one of the three Witches.
The Work is Antiphonal in two groups.
Group I.
Harp Harpsichord Piano Taiko Drum Synth Drum Celeste Timpani Vibraphone Glockenspiel Tubular Bells
Group II.
Tubular Bells Orchestral Bells – 2 different sets. 2 Xylophones 2 Marimbas Harp 5 Tuned gongs Bass Drum Tom—toms 4 Wood Blocks 4 Suspended Cymbals 5 Bell Trees 2 sets of Timpani Celeste
Group I is placed at the front of the performance area “Middle Stage”. The second group is placed at the back of the performing area “stage Left”.
The Witches of Macbeth ~ The CD.
The Witches of Macbeth appear on the CD with the same name but includes "Prelude Fantasia Adagio and Duet for Perscussion Solo." This cover of this CD features the Photo Fantasy's of the composer and the scultpure of "Claudio" see Sculpture ~ The Exhibition.
