FABLE IV.

An Intervention of Appreciation
(Subtitled -- "The Gift of Light")

The Gift of Light was first published under a limited first edition of 300 for the Christmas Season of 1996. The work was completed August 18, 1996 and the original edition computer signed by the author. In addition the 300 editions are timed and dated. The original edition was distributed, free of charge, in a small area in Plymouth Massachusetts. A second edition is now available and is included in part on this site.

The Gift of Life is part of a larger anthology of short stories called Interventions that make up an anthology of modern day Fables called A Mythography (word coined by the author).

The Intervention or Fable features a twelve-year-old runaway in New York over the Christmas holidays, his experiences and his eventual return to his home. Taken simply as a short story on its own, the work tackles some of the problems a young adolescent encounters when the real world collides with a child's world. Taken as one part of a larger work -- A Mythograpy -- the story is a metaphor for one intervention a deity might take in shaping our ongoing epistemology.
