ScottOpus Productions is pleased to introduce the following works of Kenneth R. Lindner Jr.:-
Kathy’s Theme was written in 1998 and completed on December 12th 1998. the “Kathy” in “Kathy’s Theme” is the composer’s wife and this work was a Christmas gift for her. The score is inscribed “For my love, at Christmas” and is thus not only a gift for her but also the work is dedicated to her. Kathy and Kenneth Lindner founded and run Heritage Ranch dedicated to providing and preserving 100% grass fed Bison, Thus providing their coustomers with a clean, Chemical free, and humanely raised meat. Visiting www.lindnerbison.com and subscribing to their Quarterly Newsletter is a must for any person interested in the preservation of Bison or organically grown food.
The work is scored for 2 oboes, Strings, Harp, Piano, Marimba and Percussion. It should be noted, however, that according to the composer, the Marimba part was scored for that instrument as a matter of convenience and should more properly be performed on Steel Drums. Steel Drums are one of Kathy’s favorite instrumental sounds. The musical theme of this work is described by the composer as “Mozartian”.
This is a very moving composition and one that demonstrates Mr. Lindner’s skill and technique of tonal composition. He describes this work as “a simple little piece for String Orchestra…….” , Beauty is contained in this simplicity. Kathy’s Theme is indeed a gem of a composition that desperately needs to be performed by a live orchestra.
