1. Commissions are undertaken for any group of instruments or solo instrument. In addition works for chorus, solo singers, duets, trios and quartets are also undertaken. In particular, works for electronic instruments and computer generated sounds are also available.
2. The final composition will be available as a printed score. If appropriate individual instrumental parts are available as an extra. If required an electronically realized rehearsal tape or disc is also available. Any rehearsal disc or tape is an extra feature of any contract. An alternativce option for some commissions is a performance tape or disc.
3. The length of any commission is three minutes or multiples of three minute sections. If the instrumentation is greater than six different instruments/voices or greater than three minutes the Completion Period is longer (see General Information on Commissions)
4. Any style of music is available but when a particular style is requested notice should be taken of the composers styles represented on the composers CDs. (see BUBBLE AND SQUEAK, RATTLE AND RHYME, BEYOND THE VIRTUAL CREATION and MASS 2100) There are a few musical styles that this composer is unable to work within. Taking note of the styles on the afore mentioned CDs will give the customer a idea of the styles this composer prefers.
5. Lyrics can also be included into the composition. These can be written by the customer with the neccessary waiver or under certain circumstances produced by the composer. If outside writings or lyrics already written are used all copyright waivers and permissions must be obtained by the customer and any appropriate fees paid by the customer prior to the signing of the contract. Authorized copies of the permission documents must be made available to the composer together with the lyrics or words prior to the commencement of the commission.
6. A level of difficulty for any or all parts can be requested. If this is the case the composer reserves the right to alter the style of the composition to cater for the level of difficulty of any or all parts of the composition.
7. The copyright, performance rights and publishing rights remain with the composer and heirs after the first performance date as indicated in the commission contract.
8.The customer in signing the commission contract only has performance rights of the composition on the day of performance as indicated on the commission contract. There shall only be one performance on that day with the performers being paid in a timely way, at the union rate by the customer. There are no publishing rights associated with the commission contract and duplication of scores, tapes or disc associated with the composition will be considered as a breach of copyright. The Copyright of any composition produced under the auspices of the commission contract remains with the composer.
